Safeguarding
      Safeguarding
As members of the Methodist Church we are charged to ensure that children and young people who come into our care are valued and offered a safe environment in which they can develop and grow. We are guided in this by the example of Jesus Christ, the guidance of the Methodist Church and national legislation, guidance and good practice.

This is the introduction to the District Safeguarding Policy & Supporting Material that offers support and advice for churches as they incorporate safeguarding policies and practices into their life and work.

This policy is supported by the District Safeguarding Group whose role is to offer information, advice and personal support to individuals, churches and circuits. The group can be contacted through Gill Crippen, Paul Taylor or Rev Alison Tomlin.

The District also produces a newsletter, Think Children, twice a year. This provides updates to legislation and Methodist practice and procedures:

Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosures
All workers with children and young people should now have a CRB Disclosure. If you are not sure about the process to achieve this then the Churches Agency for Safeguarding (CAS) website outlines the process. The CAS is the agency that the Methodist Church uses to obtain CRB Disclosures and they offer a lot of support information on their website.
